Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

So, this will be a small get together, maybe after the Holidays we can plan a bigger one! I'll be bringing some sweets-desert types of stuff, and myself. I am NOT bringing any children. When I told them we had to get everything done early today because mommy was going to see her friends, they all gave me blank looks. (Honestly? Is this a new concept?)

My 12 year old was like, where are you going? I said the chicken gals were getting together for a picnic and chat. He looked slightly relieved since CHICKEN was mentioned. (I think he has no idea that I have friends)
My 7 year old goes with the flow, wanted to know what they were going to eat while I went on my long trip. (Like Freeport is another country, and he night starve to death in my absence) My two older kids just gave me blank stares then looked at each other like "She has a life?" and "Oh God I hope this isn't a mid life crisis"

I'm really looking forward to meeting more of you!!! My husband is glad I'm getting out, I just have to leave him an exact website, item number, credit card number, and description of what I want for my birthday. (I asked for a pressure canner-a small one-my range hood is very low clearance) and he's clueless as to where to find this. Last year I asked for a marble rolling pin for my baking...he went to WILLIAMS SONOMA, which we can ill afford....they charge by the pound he thinks.

Kairi (kitty) is feeling MUCH better, so I feel good about leaving him, and my youngest seems to have gotten over whatever made him mushy yesterday. OY VEY! These kids and animals!

On a good note-I found 3 eggs this morning...I wonder who the new layer is...

another brown, so it could be ANY one of them. I'm going to have to spy on them...

I am at a bit of a loss as to what to bring. Can I volunteer to pay for a pizza? I just wouldn't want to show up with something that's been in my car for a few hours.

Ha! and here I am online too to say thank you again to everyone that came. It was a much needed break to talk crafts, chickens, gardens and marvel at Carolyn's beautiful home. I am only sorry I was the rude person arriving late and leaving early. I did beat all the traffic though. Right now I am sitting in my office with my youngest child and my D'Uccle Cinnamon. Cinnamon is very diligently trying to peck her apron diaper off, lol. I am hoping she enjoys / tolerates it well enough to hang out with me more. I really would like to have more time to just observe her behavior.

Thanks again everyone, it was really a great afternoon.

Great pics, Heather! It was terrific seeing you again. I think we all need to schedule a regular monthly in person meet up. Girlfriends = sanity!

Oh what a fun time!! Carolyn, thank you SO much for opening your home to us, it's a gorgeous house, and your husband is totally charming.

Next time, I WILL remember to bring the pie I bought. (Um, NOT the same one-the kids had their way with that one...)

It was a purely therapeutic afternoon. I got home in a good mood, like a weight lifted. I agree-we need a monthly meeting/picnic/coffee clutch/therapy session. My ride home took no time, after the initial Southern state slowdown. My kids were waiting, happy to see that I hadn't left the country. The girls were just getting in to roost, so I locked them up and now I'm relaxing and cooking spaghetti.

Carolyn, thanks again, and it was SO great to meet everyone!!

OOOOH She's so cute in the diaper with a leash!! What pretty markings! She'll get used to it. Hopefully soon! Is she going to have full run of the house?
