me too! :bow  I dont feel like cooking this year at all........
But I live for the left over sandwiches.
Thats so funny. My husband would rather have a post thanksgiving sandwich, not me but I do live for the leftovers.
My sons coming so I am excited to cook for him. I do several things ahead of time so I don't get crazed.

I actually make my pearl onions/stuffing/ creamed cauliflower and stuffed mushrooms ahead of time. LOL
I always hold it here for some family members.....but this year am laying low. Too much stuff going on and im feeling so scatter brained lately that just us 4 is enough to cook for. Ill likely forget to put the oven on I am so bad lately..........

The whole family heads to my brother's house in Saugerties. He's got a great big Victorian and it's a pretty central location for us. Plus, there's a poultry farm in the neighborhood so we have fresh-killed turkey. So yummy! I usually bring my signature green bean with butter and cashew dish. This year I had a request for deviled eggs (I wonder why?) Everyone has their special dish - my niece does sweet potato cassarole. A friend gave me about 20 lbs of organic potatoes, so I may do the mashed this year.

Last year the rule was only 1 dish per attendee. If you wanted to bring something extra, you had to pick up a hobo on the way. We always have so much food, it's mind-boggling.

I think I'll bring a box of Twinkies.

(By the way, when I was a kid, I hid one in a drawer in a table in the basement. I found it like 10 years later, still intact. True story. Bleh.)

You guys are making me hungry!

The coop moving debacle is finally done!!! It has been underway in varying degrees for what seems like forever but it's actually now sitting on the cement slab, 75 feet away from the original location as of this morning. Unbelievable what a pain the you know what it was but it's finished. I cannot believe what a relief it is!!!!!! The chickens are all looking at us like we're crazy... putting the pens up, taking the pens down, moving several coops several times, taking a greenhouse down and moving that.. omg the list goes on and on. Anyway, I'm happy about it.

Ok, that went quick...
Let's see if I can remember.
Don't use activated Oxine. Very caustic, and actually dangerous for the birds.
I would only use the activator if it were just for the coops, and only if they were empty. For days.

I bought 2 dozen Silkie eggs. Of course, with 84 spots in the turners, they looked awful lonely.
So I grabbed all the nice dark Marans eggs I could find.

I am so seriously screwed in 3 weeks.
But I am doing this all in my office. Should be no contamination there.

I will vaccinate them on hatch day.
So if anyone wants a few birds Mareks vaccinated, let me know.
You'll have to bring them by, as it's only good for 1 hour, but I hate throwing out such a precious commodity!
Or, come over and pick it up, and do whatever with it.

This year is a new Thanksgiving trend, my nephew has invited the family over to his small apt in NYC.
Yippee, 20 people in a 1br. apt. Can't wait!

Oh yeah, I remember. Twinkies like (ahem) 40 years ago actually tasted better than the ones today.
I still wouldn't eat them

though.
