Southern28Chick's soap!

thanks SouthernChick28...my dh calls you whiskey chick! LOL
I have a friend here in NE who teaches the CP soapmaking class at a local farm and I was thinking about taking her class.
If anyone is interested...I found this great video.

I totally agree...take a professional class! Perhaps no instructions are needed here as someone may take a few instructions on here and end up having a bad accident if they are too young??

Oh no, I'm not even trying to give instructions. I was just explaining the difference between cold and hot process soap making because I was asked. I'm the first one to tell you that soap making is the most dangerous thing I've ever done and I have been hurt many times. That's why I suggest to those who want to make soap to buy the melt and pour soap kits from a craft store. That's safe for 10 year olds.

YES...Ozark Hen and Southern28chick are very correct in that Lye is very caustic and should never be used around young children or pets. I will be learning by an experienced soap maker with years of lessons learned in a controlled environment. Did not mean to cause a stir. Did you all know that mdbucks was in the military and sailed on a nuclear sub?

I registered for the class...we are going to make goats milk soap...the farm has goat and cow milk that they use in the class! Plus they have these handmade wooden molds. I also, registered my 8 year old and dh in a beekeeping class starting next spring! Cool, hunh?
Vermont/New Hampshire are very traditional cultures and love the fine arts of soap making, fabric felting, and natural arts of long past. Just the other week we were at Canterbury Village in Canterbury, NH and my 3 were making hand dipped candles.

You didn't cause a stir with me, I'm not easily stirred.

I think you'll have fun taking that class. It's best to learn for someone with experience. I taught myself how to make soap from doing research online. Like I've said, I've been hurt quite a bit.

Hand dipped candles that sounds like something I'd like to learn.

I could comment on the bees too. I will just say make sure the veils elastic isn't brittle, I had one break and its not preatty when holding a full super and veil falls down around neck. I got bunch of stings on face and ears, next time out had all new elastic. Dont have bees anymore, top got blown off during blizzard, and froze hive. Thinking of restarting with new hive in spring. I have the smokers, centrifuge suits, etc jsut need bees, Maybe I will catch a swarm and save $60. Enjoy the class.
