BRAVA FOR YOU! KILL 'EM ALL.
I take them out with my pellet rifle, V-trap, and several other kinds of traps for them and starlings. If people saw the dead bluebird babies and other babies and eggs of our native cavity-nesting birds, they'd think twice before calling them cute little birds.
The English "house sparrow" (actually a weaver FINCH) and the European starling were brought here over a century ago, paid for by some super-wealthy Shakespear fan, along with all the birds mentioned in Shakespear plays. They were released in Central Park, NYC, and the only survivors were the "house sparrow" and the starlings, two very aggressive, prolific, live-on-anything cavity nesters. Within 25 years they were all over North America decimating the native birds' populations.
