Speckled Sussex Hen or Roo?

Approximately 7 weeks old. Comb is not quite as big as two of my others, but it’s still got me wondering!

Hard to tell by that photo, could you get a few full body pics, especially the tail and head?

I’ll try to get one of the whole bird in a bit. They’re kinda at a squirrelly age and run every time I try to get a good one We have 4 SS and I'm afraid they’re all going to be roos and that the specific breed I wanted. We may keep one, but I don't need four roosters

SS's we have had, all matured pretty quick, but that white chest feathering in concerns me, all our girls were even but males had the white chest feathers like yours.

Since you've got 4 of them it should be easier to tell because you can compare. Feel free to get pics of all of them!

Looking back at our girls, their comb development was less than yours at 7 weeks but not by much, my concern is the white chest as I stated earlier. I think in 3 weeks you'll know better, ours was obvious at 10 weeks. I think you could have a fast maturing Pullet, but I'm leaning male 60/40 at 7 weeks, but update us in a couple weeks, i'd like to see this bird's development then, keep the hope for a pullet though!

I'm thinking pullet. My girls have done the comb and white chest. There isn't enough red in the comb/face for me to think cockerel.

This is our Specked Sussex when she was about that age, to compare. She’s a hen.

This is one of our other SS. Clearly has a big comb and is getting wattles in. Our other is slightly bigger in size and has an even larger comb and wattles. With the original one in question developing slower I’m reaaaaalllly hoping it’s a pullet! This is the breed I wanted from the start. Drove over 2hrs one way just for SS. Bought 8. Four have ended up being RIRs and one is a GLW mix. So 2/3 of the SS are looking to be roos
