I purchased some "white silkie eggs" from ebay. Imagine my suprise when out hatched a huge brown chick...

Turns out it's supposed to be a speckled sussex. It does this thing where it cranes it's neck way up high... a lot, it also stretches out it's right back leg a lot, we suspect it's a roo.

Here's a pic..

Now I don't know diddly about speckled sussex. DD wants to keep it, drives me nuts. Any info, pep talks, or stories would be greatly appreciated.

I have 3, they are very sweet! I have one that is just happy to curl un on your lap and sleep. I think one of mine might be a roo, not sure. The feathers are much longer on its tail. Here is one pic of Nutmeg, our fave Sussex.

i have 5 ss...they are the friendliest chickens of my whole flock...they hover around my feet when i'm in the coop...they always want some attention and they are good talkers...they talk to me all the time...well...except when they're eatin ofcourse!

i wouldnt trade those girls for nuttin..

We have one, and she's the nicest, sweetest little thing. Sally will jump into my lap for a little pet when I'm sitting in the run and she knows her name and comes running over to whomever calls her. She also is the first one to investigate anything new in the coop or run, too.

She's one of my favorites. I'd definately get more some day!

edited because it sounded like I sat in the run hoping the chickens would pet ME
