I have an SS hen who had white chest as a chick. She has been one of my best layers.

He still to this day 58 years later doesn't like to eat chicken. Loves eggs.

When they feather in "not chick fluff", a lot of white on the chest generally indicated cockerels.

Keeping fingers crossed mine will be an exception.

I can’t find a good 4 week photo of mine. At 3 weeks she had no chest feathers so that doesn’t help. Here she is at 5.5-6 weeks.

White chested SS chicks are typically cockerels. But its to early to say for sure.

Here is my little SS, she'll be 1 year old in May. She was always the smallest of the group. She is now the 2nd largest of the group. She had a white chest as a chick so don't always believe the above statement.

Here she is with her mates, all the same age. She's quite a bit smaller and has the white chest...

My SS feathered in white chested.....they're female, too. All my Spangled OEGBs (same color type) of both genders sport white breast regions.

I'm thinking there's still hope.
