For my wife it was the desire for delewares that led to Cyn on this site, she was following threads between her and seriousbill and wanted very badly to get some of their eggs for me too hatch for her. when the post went up that we could get some but had too pick them up I offered to go get them for her.
It took me almost eight hours too convince her that I was serious.

Cyn was very gracious and threw in suedes eggs as a kind of bonus. we don't know anything really about him or his breed but me and my daughter have decided to raise them up and see what comes from it. we are very excited and as you say hopefully the gentle handling will help give us a successful hatch.
when I was about 400 miles into my trip my wife called and said that Cyn would consider shipping too us rather than have me take such a long trip. I asked her if she wanted me too turn back and was told ABSOLUTLY NOT. She wanted her eggs and did'nt want anyone else touching them or risk anything happening in shipping.

we added up everything and the total averaged out too about 6.13 per eggwhich is pretty good except for the 1.5 years I am sure that it shortened my life LOL

Oh Cyn they are gorgeous! Where are mine? Why are they making me wait?

I mean they get my whole bathroom, right there where I can check on them all night, they will get applesauce and scrambled eggs ... they are missing out on this stuff.

jthayerkatz, I would have preferred to pick mine up as well but the drive would have killed me. LOL

You will love the Orps and too bad you did not get to meet Suede...he is just awesome! This coming from a woman who wants to go sit in his run and let him climb all over her.

He is a gentle giant and the 2 buff orps I have are great girls. You will enjoy them. I am hoping for a delaware roo and an orp roo in this batch. I want the big blue boy and my DH wants a Ike look-a-like. hehehehe

Edit: If I were your wife and that same call took place....you would have heard the same thing...so it is not just her.

Does that make you feel better?

If you daughter is very hands on with the birds...she will love the orps. Mine are just sweeties and Suede is a sweet boy too...they are big birds...Suede is running 14 - 16 lbs I do believe and the girls are big butt girls. LOL Friendly, hardy and good layers...can't go wrong with that combo really...the blues are beautiful.

Cyn, if I ever do this again, I shall take some blue barred EEs they are just too danged cute!

If too many people here know what Jim did for his wife, they'll be asking for a clone of him! That was still the sweetest thing to do, ever. I did show him a picture of Suede, who was hunkered down on his roost shelf asleep by that hour. Well, so was Ike, but we woke him up, LOL.

I love the blue barred BR/Ameraucana crosses. They are all so different from each other. Dutch better behave himself or the BR part of that equation will be missing.

Up until june of this year she wanted no part of the chickens that I brought home. A white crested black polish and then 6 chicks that were supposed too be RIR pullets turned out too be 5 RIR roos and one red star pullet

. she would not even look at them. now she is a full fledged BYC addict and more chick crazy than me so I should not have been shocked by her answer.
It's a good thing I love her

I know that it was the right thing too do for the best care of the eggs and would do it again as long as Cyn makes another cake

Is Dutch still being a butthead? What is wrong with that boy? Take your stew pot out there, show it to him and explain what happens to sneaky bad boys...then leave it there for the day so he can contemplate his sins.

That first little blue barred EE is absolutely adorable. It is like getting the best of both worlds for me...it is blue and barred. Yay. hehehehe

Okay I am running a hot bath, taking another ibuprofen (my neck hurts from sitting there trying to look under the fan at the eggs) and then I will come back and watch them some more. hahahaha

I am going to sa an extra prayer tonight,,,

"Creator, please, if it be within your plan, let me awake to blue fuzzybutts in my incubator...amen"
