Here ya go Cyn...Kira's first to hatch...helped along by one of my mutts...

Aw! The first one I hatched from Isaac and Kira is a girl....her name is Gracie.

OMG it so hard not to reach in there and scoop them up to love on them. My #2 EE was standing up stretching towards me and peeping...I wanted to scoop it up and love on it so bad. But I am repeating to myself...do not interfere, do not touch them, leave the bator alone...etc etc etc.

How does Cheyenne like hatching so far?

Oh she is having a blast...she was sleeping when babies 1 and 2 hatched but she watched the delaware...she was cheering and then say "awwwww it's okay baby...try again" LOL


When I move these three babies to the brooder...should I grab those shells and toss them too?

I always make a grab for a shell or two when I get a baby out, but dont take lots of time doing it. If your humidity is way up, you can risk it.

The humidty has risen to 70 on my read out so 77% actual...I think I can risk grabbing one or two near the babies. They are all cuddled up in one corner together...so I will grab the shells closest to them then. I had to slide my hand in a few minutes ago and move one off...guess where? The sponge! The little bully was sleeping up on top of the sponge.

So, I looked at him and said "Ninny, I am trying to get you dry...you cannot stay there", slipped my hand in the side, scooped him off and onto the floor and closed it back up. The humidity did not even even drop. So, I am watching him...getting into trouble already.

Yep, they go right for that cool, wet sponge. Silly chickies.
