Oh everyone needs this blissful tormenting fun at least once.

Baby #4 has hatched with the assistance of baby #2...that #2 is like the hatch monitor. I have put #2 in the brooder so the delaware is in with the new EE. I have two delawares pipped, 1 more ee pipped and the orps...still snoring. *sigh*

Baby # 2 helping and the Delaware just monitoring...

YAY! I am so happy that all of the hatches so far have gone well. This baby was having some troubles because the zip was on the bottom when s/he was rolled over by the helper..I did have to clean some umbilical cord matter and stuff off his/her head and a piece of shell. It is a sweet baby though...when my hand went in there, it came over to me and let me clean it up with no fussing.

They are not doing jack. All they want to do is roll every now and then and sleep!

Look at this cutie pie..it just comes to me whenever I even look in there

those three eggs to the left of the baby...those are Smoky's eggs...doing nothing but sleeping They are gonna wait until I cannot hold my eyes open anymore then all hatch at the same time...sneaky orps BTW in those pics above...that delaware is already nearing time to come out...s'he is almost completely dry in just a few hours. S/he is inquisitive but sweet.

I agree...all of these will crawl in and on my hand when I reach in to get someone or in the brooder...

I think it is because "we" are the first person they see...I have been standing there every time one of these babies came out of the shell...so they see batormates and me. There is no trauma for them really like those cross country trips, jiggling around and temperature changes...these guys go from 100 degree bator into 96 degree brooder.

COME ON ORPS....TIME TO WAKE UP!!!! I have to yell here, I cannot yell inside and upset them. I do not want them to think they are coming into a hostile environment. hehehehehe

I want my blue fuzzybutts....NOW!

Do you know which of your delaware girls lays the smallest dark reddish brown egg? That is the one that is pipping.

Kira's second one is not pipping yet and the larger unknown delaware is not pipping yet either.

No, hon, I really dont know. I haven't spent lots of time catching them in the act and they all lay in the same nest every time, it seems, so can't say, oh ,that's Ellie's egg because she likes that particular nest. They all want the # 3 nest!

My little incubator babies always run to the window and peep when they would see me. When Buffy was the only chick to hatch in my last batch, anytime someone would walk by the incubator (which was in the living room, isn't everyone's?) she would run to the window and peep and stare at us. So cute those little beady black eyes staring out the window. Now she's a little spoiled princess who starts peeping her fool head off when she wants attention. I really do think that babies you raise with a lot of early hand attention are more friendly.

I can't wait until I get to see the orps and delawares in person!

Come on ORPS!!
