Hey guys,
now correct me if I am wrong speckledhen, but the ggs I picked up from you this week are the group laid just after the ones being waited on here right?
So as you all are waiting on the pip and zip, I still got at least two days before I can even candle the first time.

My wife is goin' nuts and threatened to bury in the back yard any person who looks on her eggs the wrong way

Truth is she is so afraid of hurting them, she won't even touch them herself. I think this is just so that if things don't work too her satisfaction she has someone to pin it on and you know that it will be me.

I am going to start my own thread as soon as we candle the first time and have a real update for you. I have drawn detailed charts to track each eggs process and they are all marked for easy ID.
Godd luck Cetawin and we will be eagerly watching your results in hopes of an indicator for our own hatch. 19 whole days at least from now

Yes, Jim, these are from the same flocks as yours. Cetawin and I had been waiting for a broody for her and when it happened, it was hot and I really didn't expect them to ship at all well in the heat, but we had a deal and I did it. Then, her crazy broody refused the eggs, probably because she didn't steal them from another hen, LOL! You should have a really good hatch with those, coming down to personally pick them up like you did, plus you have so many more than I could send Ladyhawk for her one broody. Was nice to meet you!

Go babies, go!

It was great to meet you and your husband as well.
I was thinking that for anyone to travel that distance for eggs from someone that we had never met took a great deal of faith and confidence in you and what you do. If thing had turned out badly I would be kicking myself for being a fool. But you and your husband were sooooo nice and Spike and Sage are the friendliest little babies of even the ones that we hatched ourselves and held every day. We are blessed to have met you both and too have the opportunity to learn from all your experience.
Just think that even fifty years ago how difficult it would have been for us to have ever met.

Oh! and everyone got a piece and loved your lemon pound cake, delicious

Thanks so much for giving Spike and Sage a great home. You can see why I love BRs so much! The only thing that would have been better would have been for Kathy to come down with you so I could meet her, too.

Now, hopefully, my friend Ladyhawk will have a few sweeties to post pics of by tomorrow sometime!

Oh my gosh...you are the gentleman that drove down to Cyn's to pick up eggs... nice to meet you, so to speak. I spoke to Cyn on the phone a bit after you and your wife had left.

Your wife reminds me a lot of someone I know (clearing my throat innocently) this is what was beside my eggs while they were settling from shipping

It has sat beside the bator the entire time. I have yelled at, snarled at, given the look to anyone or anything near them! Tell her not to worry about the candling...it is really not that bad and I was actually shaking when I picked up the first egg...when I realized it was not that difficult to do, it was really easy to do it fairly quickly, even me moving at old lady speed to avoid hurting them. I made a spreadsheet/chart of sorts myself. LOL

You should do really well (better than my hatch) with your eggs. It took mine three days, in hot weather to get here and then my broody would not take them so I had to wait through sat and sun, finally my bator arrived on monday morning and the eggs went in that evening. So, I had 7 Suede babies and 5 Issac babies...Between day 10 and 17 I lost 4 orp and 1 Delaware. So I am really thrilled that after all they went through, the jossling from my psycho broody, the extra couple days they waited and my inexperience, that I have 7 out of 12 still going good.

Are you going to keep Spike's name? I heard that one is a character

Cyn:

And BTW psycho broody has managed to steal 4 more eggs last night....I took them from her, gave HER the stink eye and chucked her outside! If she ain't gonna set on Suede eggs, she ain't setting on nothing!

The other two broody wenches gave up yesterday, they got tired of being chucked outside so they just left with everyone else. LOL

No worries of hijacking my thread...it keeps me from going over to talk to and watch the eggs. hahahahaha

I think the orps will make me wait until actual hatch day which is Monday....yes they will, they will be the last ones just to torture me.

Yes I am the guy who drove 1972 miles for some of Cyn's eggs and Spike and Sage were just iceing on the cake (really good cake). great sign, I don't want my wife to get any ideas though.
where is the Land of the Lions? your avatar is a badger which my wife says is from wisconsin, She has family there.
we have been watching your update with bated breath hoping for the best for you and yours.

The badger is there merely for attitude. LOL I am in Southern Oregon the land of Mountain Lions! They are everywhere here. including my yard.

I have been a basket case with these eggs...you see I fell in love with speckledhen's former avatar...her Blue Orp Rooster named Suede. I decided to bead his picture on a deerhide...so in February I started beading and I just finished him. whew and i wanted eggs from him so badly..finally a hen went broody and I called her, she sent what she had collected at the time and it has been interesting. I ordered an incubator the day after she shipped the eggs just in case...well my broody pushed the eggs away so I had to wait through the weekend and get them in the incubator when it arrived. So, I am really thrilled. You picked yours up and they travelled with care I am sure...you should have a great hatch. I will watch for your thread. I will update this as more starts happening, right now I have one pip on one of my EE mutts and just a little triangle break...so it is early yet. *sigh* This is almost as bad as when I waiting for my nephew to be born. I pace the kitchen instead of the hospital hallway now.
