I marked the calendar for candling at day 10, removing tray at day 18 and the vent plug on the first pip, I also numbered each egg on your suggestion. I put the shelf liner on top of the wire and it is holding at between 99 - 100 degrees. Your grand babies are due September 7th. hehehehehe

How long did it take to come up to temp?

Just remember to be sure the turner is actually rotating by checking at different times to catch them in different positions.

It took a little less than an hour to reach temperature...when I opened it to put the eggs in, it dropped down to 90 degrees and was right back a 100 degrees in less than 10 minutes.

While it was initially coming up to temp I checked the turner...it takes about 30 minutes to go from all the way forward (where it started) to level up (halfway). So, it is doing its thing slowly.

I used to know the formula for figuring out the average temp using a hot water heater therm. Now I can't remember. Cyn would happen to know?

Okay Cyn..please do not laugh at me...I stayed up till 5 am this morning checking on the eggs. LOL I was afraid the temperature would drop or spike...the turner would stop working a CAT would come near it....blah blah blah.

Is this normal for the first timers? LOL

Heck YES!

I had my bator in the basement and wore out the steps!! Best exercise I've had in ages.

Then I got remotes and had them by my bed at night. I'd wake up during the night to turn on the flashlight and read the temp & humidity. Crazy!

BTW Congrats on scoring some Suede eggs. Hope you have an awesome hatch!!

I was worried about cats (& Dogs!) too, so I moved the incubator to a little room off our bedroom. With the door closed I could still monitor the hum of the fan and turner, and I could check frequently without other critters helping.

Happy hatching!
