Does anyone here now much about spiders? I mean their species and all. I found a fair sized spider on its pretty strong nest and I can't find anything online to identify it. Thanks.
You have a photo? I'm pretty good with IDing them.
Most people get pretty freaked out when they find orb weavers . Here's a quote from that Wiki url: "The "typical" orb-weaver spiders (family Araneidae) are the most common group of builders of spiral wheel-shaped webs often found in gardens, fields and forests. Their common name is taken from the round shape of this typical web, and the taxon was formerly also referred to as the Orbiculariae." You'll start to notice them now - and then even more into fall. Their webs can be quite large and impressive. They're also on the larger size as spiders go.
Although.... you could have seen any sort of spider! I'm just taking a stab in the dark.......
