Hi.
Yesterday I bought three Rhode Island Red cockerels. They are handsome and have the perfect colouring, but I noticed one of them seems to have a split comb. I'm not too fed up- these cockerels weren't expensive.
But I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about it. It is split right down the middle. I assume the cockerel got injured somehow. I have never had any chickens with an injured comb like that. The first half of it flops down.
The cockerel doesn't seem ill. Do you experts out there think it will heal? Or will it stay split forever?
I can get pics if needed.
Thanks!
