From everything I've read the quails prefer a male/female pairoff, naturally. Since five out of my six are males I have four boys that are now living a bachlor existence together.

They are still too young for fighting but I have a question for when they mature...

Can I keep them in boy pairs?

I really don't have any other solution at the moment. I've put the cinnamon hen with a lucky fellow but the others can't go in there as well.

Anyone have experience with bachelor habitats? I'd rather not have to purchase four hens because buttons are hard to find around here and I'd only planned to keep two pair anyway. I'll do what's necessary for the happiness of the birdies though...

Thanks!

Buttons do better in pairs--- same sex/ opposite sex doesnt matter so much as the "pairs" thing... So you may, as age sets in, have to increase to 2 bachelor pads... and a honeymoon suite.

oh GOOD! I'd hoped this would be the case! "Pairs is Pairs"

I think my friend will still take a male pair so we'll be all set.

If she doesn't I'll get another bachelor pad and put the other pair in.

I hope she likes their 4:30 a.m. "PEEEOOOO PEEEOOOOO PEEEOOO!!!" wakeup call.
