Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

Spirit gets to stay outside for another hour (until dark)... then back in his 8x12 pen inside with Ember. There was no excitement when I brought him outside, but Blind Girl seems happy to have him back. Ember has tried nibbling on the brace in their room, but Spirit casually nips at her to stop, and she does. I don't think the others have even noticed the brace. It is a very mellow and easy going pen. They are currently all piled up together in their shelter, fast asleep.

Bhonkers, thanks! There seems to be a lot of people watching over Spirit and I am happy to keep this thread going to share in Spirit's journey. I think Blind Girl is pretty darn amazing too. She definitely distinguishes sounds (like my voice or Spirit's) and has instant memory recall for location of objects. I can move food bowl/kiddy pool... and she listens to hear me pour food or hose running, makes the immediate association and mentally records location. I can even hang a toy from fence... jingle the bells on it once... and she will know where it is from that point forward. I find it very impressive!

Adoptee number 1 is a calm fellow, who will come close, but not be petted. He loves leftover watermelon, and is the reigning melon eating champ. He eats well on the free choice system. He's a lovely boy. It will be nice to continue to watch the dapper laddy grow up and out. I feel sorry for him without Lady, I don't know where I'll ever find another gray girl for him of his kind, now that lady is gone. Poor Boy.

Wonderful to hear he is doing well!! I would love to see pics when things get more settled down at your place. I'll send you dewlap eggs in the spring. I'll have plenty to go around!
