Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

PTSD can also happen to non military.  My ex Husband suffered from it, and it was from the death of his sister when he was 7.  It took them almost 40 years to figure out why he acted like he did.  If its a traumatic death of a close person, and you are young, it has the same effect.
Marty, you are so right. PTSD is so different for each person. My mother had it from being sexually and physicaly abused as a child. She was diagnosed with it when she was 62. I feel sorry for anyone who is diagnosed with it because it can be so hard to diagnose and treat. Medications sometimes don't work but make it worse. Counesling is the best so far for the individual and family. I am sorry for your ex-husband that it took this long for him to get some help.

It was diagnosed as darn near everything else first. Everything, and Menenger was his psychiatrist. It was so aweful.

I'm just glad geese and ducks don't appear to get it, or else I'm sure I'd be giving thereapy to the rest of my flock.

My dh didn't get help till 4 yrs ago, his break through came when someone from his squad found him and that brought it all to the surface. he has been through much counseling and thank God for the VA hospitals, we have an awesome one not far from where we live, it has been a life saver literally. These guys have to carry way too much baggage around for the rest of their lives, Meds are not the answer but they can help. along with therapy. So sorry about your mom Triplell and about your x Marty so sad.

Good morning, friends. :)

Ruru, Gloria is beautiful!! Simply a stunning pair! Thank you for sharing pics. I am happy that she recovered so nicely for you. Spirit continues to clearly improve. I had to run him down last night to get him inside, even though it was after midnight when I put him up (I fell asleep on couch and hubby woke me to put Spirit up then go to bed).

Triplell, Marty & Lydia, you are all such strong and wonderful women. I feel privileged to call you three byc friends.

J, sounds like you have a rebellious Goose on your hands, he probably thought since he had been left out he was going to get to stay. lol

Thanks Miss Lydia, Mom passed away with forgivness in her heart and peace. This will be our 2nd Christmas with out her. Although we still do feel her here at home once in a while. My DH is asking for the help that he needs and I will be here to support him in everyway. I'm his 4th wife with sadly is common among Vietnam vets. His other wives basically walked out on him in his time of need. I have talked to 2 of them and they told me that his only problem is the drinking and that he is CRAZY. They litterally stepped out on him with other men. DH is my 2nd marriage as my first was a troubled one with mental and verbal abuse from him and his momma. I married momma when I married him. I left for my mental safety!!! Now my DH is getting the help and so am I and we can become one with lots of hard work and support.

Iian, I am so happy that Spirit is gaining his strength back and attitude. Mine are doing good and the one that was limping is no more. The somewhat blind one is getting along better now that I have stopped rearranging the barn. We still have no snow but it isn't too far behind us either. I have a pair of Toulouse that are fighting everyone else so they are seperated for now.

Hope all will have a wonderful day and full of smiles!!

Iian thank you. Gloria has had trouble when I first recieved her with eggs being not formed right or soft shelled. Since then have made sure she has grit and oster shell in breeding season. I believe we have never had a fertile egg from our baby girl Gloria. But she will always have a home with us even if she can not produce goslings.

She is with a different ganderxthan Grant now. She has paired up with Lance our grey smooth breasted Saddleback gander. We shall see this year if we get any fertile eggs from Gloria if not she is a good sitter when she goes broody.

Sometimes we get so tired we fall asleep and miss doing our chores and have to catch up.

This is normal we are just humans not super people. You have had a very stressful time getting all those birds and finding homes for them all so it has finally caught up with you my dear.

I have to go to dialysis 3 times a week and boy you talk about pooped your butt out! I come home and do my chores of feeding then go in and take a 4 hours naps. Then get up do my chage of waters and whatever else. So I know pooped out when I see it and you have it.
