Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

Hey Marty, good to see you! Sorry things are not going well with your new goat. Could it be that she just needs more time to adjust to her new home?

I am on here all the time reading everybody else's posts, I just don't always chime in unless I really have something to say. I'll never get the kind of post numbers some of you have! I need to take some new pictures, but they pretty much look the same. Atticus still has that weird feather on his wing, but neither of them is molting. I'm not worried about it as long as it isn't something I need to correct. They have their routine down pat now, and go into the house in the evening very well. They don't like me standing too close to the door, so I have to prop it open with something. I can get closer to them, but not near enough to touch them yet. If I get too close, I get hissed at. Today I noticed them cocking their heads to look up in the sky, and later I saw a big buzzard flying overhead. I think it was a buzzard, anyway. It was BIG! I don't have any new pics, but I will try to take some. Now that the leaves are off the trees I won't have so much trouble with everybody being in deep shade. It got really cold here this week, for this early. It was down in the mid-twenties every night. There was a thin layer of ice on one of the horse troughs!! The geese didn't even seem to notice, lol! I made sure to bring in some extra hay to make a big fluffy bed for them, which seemed to make them happy. Our farrier was here today with his 20-month-old daughter, and I took her over to see the ducks and the geese and she really loved it!!

Thanks for the update, Lightning! It sounds like things are working out well with your boys. I would love to see new pics!! I have missed you and didn't realize you were stalking the thread. lol Hm... any other supporters of the rescue thread also following this thread and not saying hi??

Onto Spirit news.... since it has been lightly snowing and the temps stayed warmer last night, Spirit got to stay outside for the 1st time in almost 6 weeks! Of course, as soon as I woke up, I jumped out of bed and raced out back to check on him this morning. He's waiting at the food bowl, looking hungry, but otherwise happy. Unfortunately, he will have to come back inside tonight as usually it gets super cold after a good snow. But, it sure was nice to not have to do the nightly terrorist catching routine last night.

Hope everyone's geese and other loved pets are doing well this holiday season!!

I normally read everyday but dont say much. Can't wait till hatching season and fuzzy butts :)

Outside all night! puts him one step closer to "normal" goose life

Thanks, guys!!! Make it 2 nights in a row Spirit got to stay outside. He's doing really good!

Sue, speaking of missing people, how is Jerry??

Lightning, thank you for sharing pics!!!!!!!!!! They look great!!!!!!!!! Not sure what is going on with that wing, but I would bet that when he molts, it will look normal afterwards.
