Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

We had a cat once that would bring live animals into the house,

2X we had chip monks in here that he brought in and a couple of birds. he was a stray we took in and very easy going but after the last chip monk we found him a forever home some place else. Now I wish i could have one that would live in the house with the ducks/chickens but it would end up in the house most likely.

That is scary about the virus they can carry, the mice not the cats. I read some years back about the blk plague being carried by some rats in the middle south of the country, can't remember where it was it's been some years ago i read it, but that was really scary. I am thinking Arkansas but not sure. And yep we have had them build nest inside the negine of our cars too once they came through the vent and got inside the car, had to set traps to catch them. This was in our Honda Element. For weeks after when I would drive I kept expecting to see a mouse run by my foot or up my pants legs. Now that wouldn't have been pretty.

the plague is all over U.S. in mice and rats both.
I didn't know that Marty. In one of our storage sheds, they were bad for getting in there and building nests, when I'd open the door the smell would just about knock ya over, so i have been putting poison in this one building and they haven't built a nest in there this winter. I'm sure smelling that mouse poop can't be good for a person. I hated to put out poison but I really didn't have a choice, I'd clean out the nesting material and the next day it would be back. yuck

That's funny Lydia. The 1st time I had a rat in my engine, I was paranoid it would run up my leg while driving and I would have a serious wreck. Caught myself glancing down at my feet/floor when driving quite a bit. But that never happened.

Ruru, sorry about your cats. I always wanted a siamese, but have not had one yet. They are my 2nd favorite to calicos. Hurry up and get better, gosh darn it, so we can fill your place up with cats, dewlaps, and muscovies.

LOL, sorry! Most folks don't eat after them or get bit by them, so its generally not a problem. Besides, we have antibiotics that will really help now. Almost nobody dies of the plague these days.

HO Ho Ho!

Actually, I'm not as in the Christmas spirit as ususal. Without Dad this year, it doesn't feel like much of a holiday. He was always a big part for us. I need to budge up and do a little more shopping, and (sigh) wrap some presents.

It's all good. It made me laugh, actually.

Sorry about chistmas blahs. It's been a tough year for you and your family. At least 2013 is right around the corner and hopefully it will be the best year ever!

Marty,
Thanks for the pictures and I have cought a few shru's but it looks like mostly voles and a few field mice.

Iian,
Yes the geese have clamed down a bit. The pair of Toulouse are still at it but now the others can escape their wrath. It also looks like I have another pair forming too. I have been told by a few people who raise geese in this area that they will pair up in Dec and then start breeding in mid Jan. So I think I am just gonna wait ans see what happends.:fl
