Ruru, I was just catching up and read about your buff sebbie. I'm so sorry! Oh, what an awful thing to happen to her. I just bought a heated bucket for the geese here, but I guess I'll be sure to slip a plastic water line over it so nobody can chew it. I'll try to learn from this. How positively awful for you.

Thank you Marty. It was an awful thing to happen. But also wanted everyone to know that my husband put a dish pan under 2 of the water bucket to keep the geese from digging in the dirt around the ground where the water bucket sits. In doing so the geese would get water in the buckets and it is this that caused the horrible shock to Nutmeg. Because the water got on the heating element in the water bucket and this is what caused the horror to happen.
SO PLEASE everyone one who uses heated water buckets put plastic piping around the whole cord and do not put the water buckets in any type of pan so it does not cause this to happen to anyone elses birds!!!!!!!!!!
