Speaking of which..... are you seeing signs of breeding yet with your geese? I'd think the white trio would be getting close to laying?

They are getting fussy, and might be close. No action yet, but I didn't expect any just yet either. They are hissing at us though, but they stick togather good. If i were well, we'd have worked on fencing and dividing today. Maybe tomarrow.

My hubby and I keep talking about getting our breeders separated, but we have been busy with Bonnie and other doggie needs. Hopefully this week. It will be no time before we start finding eggs everywhere.

Hello guy's, Well we are having a heatwave of 15F at 10pm. I had to pull all the goose eggs tonite as many of them had froze and cracked. These were fertile as I could see the blastrum before all the weather went crazy on us. When I go outside I look like a yeti and a penguin walking. I HATE the COLD!!! In the summer we have terrible humidity. It is like why take a shower when you are dripping wet trying to put clean clothes on. Give me sunny Calif any day. Many years ago (the 90's) they too started to get tornado's. It was funny that my Ag teacher asked me were would be the safest place in each building, I told him the bathrooms or the ditch between the cemetary and the farm road. I was laughing the whole time too. We are only two hours away from Lake Tahoe and 30 minutes north of Sacramento.

I am so glad to hear of Bonnie's and Spirit's energy's are up. Spirit I'm sure will get in the mode once he is in top condition and start's feeling fisky.

I can't wait till April then I truely know that spring is just around the corner if not already here.:fl

I guess I'll take tornado alley. I have a solid basement, and so does almost everyone in tornado alley though. I guess I'd feel like I knew what to do to stay safe in a tornado more than I'd know with an earthquake. I mean, my house might disappear, by the safe room in the basement will probobly stay. With an earthquake, the earth could drop my whole house, and me in it, into a whole a seal it up, or catch fire, or things like that. Scary! (of course, it might be about what your raised with)
x2 I'll take tornados they can take your neighbors house and leave yours... but an earth"shake" will wipe out the whole dang neighborhood. DH has been in them all and none of them bother him. Not huricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, tordados..........

Spirit is doing really well... and Bonnie is holding steady. AND... HUGE NEWS.... Ember laid her 1st egg!!!!!!!!

I am 99.999999% sure it is not fertile. Spirit hasn't started showing any signs of going into breeding mode. Besides, I'd think I'd hear a commotion in the room if there was an attempt between him and Ember.
if they are anything like Embdens.... the ganders are VERY proud of themselves and make sure the whole world knows it.

Triplell, sorry about your eggs and horrible weather. Spring is just around the corner and we will all be goose egg hatching fools. :)

Sue, from what I can tell, that is not just an embden gander trait. I've seen it with my Africans as well as with my buff dewlap, Pistol after he mates with Ginger. I would expect Spirit to also want to flap his wings and announce his victory to the world like other ganders.
