Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

Psue, I was so pleased with myself when we first got ducks and brought their eggs in and was cooking with them right. Well, I got sicker than a dog after eating the ducks eggs with vomiting evertime I ate them. My husband even got sick from eating the ducks eggs. I am kind of afraid to even try the geese eggs????? I can eat chicken eggs with no problem. I do not know if this has something to do with me being on dialysis for 13 years or what. I had never eaten a duck egg before. Not sure if I would get sick with geese eggs.

J, I try to hatch some sebbie eggs and will let some of the girls hatch out some of the goslings. Have not had real good luck with some of the girls sitting well. Then I have 2 other girls one Samantha will hardly ever leave the nest and her daughter will take breaks but is a good sitter as well.

That is a good idea psue just slipped my mind..... Big brain fart!!!

Sometimes when the great dane goes into their pen and carries out an egg, she puts it on the ground and does not eat it. I taught her the eggs were babies and not to eat them. Our dane loves goslings so much. The geese go and break and eat them....

Kindra loves the goslings

Hello I am baaack,
J to answer your question my dad was in the air force at the time and we were stationed in Athens Greece. So for our everyother year vacation mom and dad splerged on a once in a life time vacation and toured Europe for a month. And what an education that was. Started in Greece, Itialy, Vatitican, Austria, Germay, Monticarlo, Switzerland then back to Greece. I was 7 at the time and what an impresion it made. After all I have walked on some of the same stones as Jesus, ate under some of the most wonderful paintings in the world, exeteria. I never lived close to family until we moved back to MN. So my thoughts are everyone else got to party with their cousins and I got one hell of an education and a love of history. I actually proved to my 7th grade social studies teacher that the Olympics did NOT take place in Athens. It was only a destination. After all then wouldn't it be called Athenpics then. I was born on the island of Okinwia, it was US territory when I was born but like idiots we gave it to the Japaneese. The Okinwia'ns begged us not to do it, they wanted to be part of us even if just a territory. I could go on and on. I LOVE this country so much after some of the things that I have seen in foreign countries. We have it so good and yet it seems like all we want is more for nothing.

We too don't plant our gardens until June 1st. Then you better get it all planted by the 5th so everything has time to grow. Our summers are very short but they are never dull and boring with nothing to do. This summer DH and I will be making many fishing trips for relaxing at least twice a week. Last year his addiction got in the way too much. I am looking forward to using the 17,000.00 boat he just had to have.

If not dad and I will be going and he can just stay home.

I gave some duck eggs to my neighbor and the same thing happened to her. I've heard of other people who can't tolerate them, too. I don't blame you for not wanting to try the goose eggs!

I just did the weights on my 10 goose eggs and they were from 185 grams to 230 grams. I rechecked them too.

Thanks J, I have a very interesting childhood indeed. I would do it all over again if given the chance too. I have always stated that if I won the lottery the family would retrace our steps just to see it one more time. My parents made the sacrafice for us to do this trip. Dad and mom had 75 cents left over after paying the ferry tickets for us and the VW bus(van) that they bought a loaf of bread and 1 can of tuna. That was breakfst ,luch and dinner for 2 day's. That is cutting it short but what a ride it was.

Well it is -8 and will be -29 before morning with -40/-50 windchill. HOW FUN THIS IS FREEZING MY TATA'S OFF!!!! I sware I loose 5 pounds just going from the house to the barn for chores . I bedded everyone down heavily and put fresh shavings in with the chickens to combat the moisture. Also gave everyone lots of scratch to eat and fill up on for the night and morning. The geese ate lots of corn before I took the waters away for the night, they had started to freeze anyway.

I have the wood furnice just blowing the hot air and I am sitting right next to it trying to take the chill off before climbing in to bed.

You probably have at least 10lbs of clothing on when you head out. I swear you are one tuff cookie. it's 24 here with wind chill into single digits and here I go.
