Spitzhaubens

I was just thinking...

My Spitz are WAY quiet....

Everyone else...how loud are your Spitz compared to your other breeds?

And am I the only one with Chamois? Everyone else have Silver Spangled? (Because I was also wondering if the different colors were much different in noise and personality. I know my white Leghorns are worlds different compared to my dark brown Leghorns).

My little Spitz hen is the loudest chicken I've ever had. (Silver spangled)

My roos are so loud I'm surprised the neighbors havent filed a report and complained. I actually heard my Jake crowing while walking the dog more than 1/3 - 1/2 mile away a couple times!
I agree! But it may just be the roosters. Although he was visiting my hen, Jake didn't like his stay here. He was so loud, I had to keep him inside the garage all the time. Then my hen learned how to pick the lock & they partied every night. In the morning they'd be free-ranging inside the garage, getting into the treats, and pooping in all the wrong places.

Poof Poof is rather quiet and easy-going. She takes care of herself, comes running for treats, and doesn't mind being held (doesn't like to cuddle, but doesn't fuss). She can figure things out - like how to get under fences, peck at locks, or jump-fly on top of buildings.

But it may just be the roosters.
Oh it's the roos alright!! My hens are pretty quiet unless they are nitpicking each other. But they pretty much get along anyways so not much noise from them. They don't even do much of an egg song.

Right now I REALLY need to find homes for my four young cockerels. The coop is cramped, they learned how to crow and are causing all kinds of mayhem at night. But it's really not their fault. The hens just don't like the young guys so they pick on them which leads to scuffling and crowing. My usually clean coop is a nightly disaster. ( I have found that spitzies like to "hold it" as long as they can until they are out in the morning and then let it rip!)
