Breed is defined by the standard. Delaware is a variety within the breed. Which may not be defined in the standard. Far as use, I know for a fact you take this bird to a White Orpington and you will get White Orpingtons. Those White Orpingtons will be within every context of the standard.
Delaware is not a color. :)

It literally says in the description of them that they are Columbian with barring. If someone decided to ignorantly call a variety of Orpington something it is not, that's on them. That's like Jaws calling mixes Starcombs and Fairy Farts. It doesn't mean it's a thing. lol He could just as easily called the Light Sussex Orpingtons with barring. The point of the matter is that they are Light Columbian with barring. That does not make them a Delaware.

Faerie farts! Added to the list of flock names!

Fabulous. He's also in the UK. And the OP is in the US. Buying chicks from a feedstore. That came from a hatchery. Not Bob Fellows. So once again, for the people that are still confused, the bird is a Delaware. It is not, the horribly misnamed Delaware Orpington. :)
