Splash Orpington Sex

I know the picture isn't the greatest but here is a pic of my Orp girls.

Here is one of my girls that I think looks alot like your girl. I was thinking she might be an andalusian. I had gotten her in a variety pack from MPC. I am not 100% sure she is an andalusian but I know she is not a Orp. I think she looks alot like your girl. She was probably about maybe 8 weeks old in the picture. In the picture it is hard to tell but she is white with some black tracings on her feathers. I have 3 of these.

Those two in my pic are also from Gumpsgirl, and here is another of a different angle. At that age I wouldn't be worried about a girl being lanky. Orps do have that growth spurt where they can be all legs, thin and gawky.

I'll try to get a dead-on shot like that of my girl. She's kind of stringy right now, but all of my birds have done that briefly.

Thank you all for the feedback. I'm still pretty positive she is an Orp - hopefully just in a gangly stage.

I did deworm her this morning just to be safe. Her crop has felt pretty mushy recently. . . that's the only other thing I noticed that's off about her. Here is a picture of her today - and also of a lavender orp, which is the only orp I have to compare her too (and the lav seems slender too because she's a project).

Hi Beth!

How old is she now? I'm sorry if I missed that as I was reading through the thread.

As far as looking sickly goes, her (she is a pullet for sure!) eyes are bright and comb color is good, so I do not think she looks sickly at all. Worming certainly can't hurt, but she does not look sick to me. She does look to be a bit on the small side of things though. What kind of feed are you feeding her and are you keeping her feeder full so she can get the food free choice? I might start adding some scrambled eggs to her diet along with some greens and see if that doesn't get her to beef up a bit for you.

I had emailed Stacey separately and asked her if she thought my girl looked "sickly". Thanks for responding! She is about 11 weeks old and on medicated starter. Originally I had them on organic starter but once humidity got high here I switched them to medicated. She does have access to food all the time and also gets greens every afternoon. I'm glad you think she looks ok, I will do my best to get her beefed up over the next few weeks!

Yep, Beth PM'd me and I responded here for her.

I don't think anyone was implying that she looked sickly, I was just answering Beth's question.

What you are feeding her could be causing the different coloration in her poo too. I know there have been times that I thought my chicks had cocci when they really didn't because of something that was added to the batch of feed that I bought at that point. I have found that what goes through them in the way of food can also impact the color their poo is.

Get some more protein in that girl and see if that helps with the size.
