Splash?

If he were a standard I'd say we could work out a trade

,,, I've been wanting to develop

a standard size blue/splash frizzle line for quite some time.

What is the genetics of breeding a white to blue? I have some blue chicks that I will eventually breed him to.

If he is white,, then you will end up 50% black and 50% blue
If he is splash,,, and we haven't determined this yet,, they will come out 50%splash and 50%blue
Of course if he is hiding a wild gene,, there may be a few strangers popping up in the mix.
Also, don't rely on the numbers,,, in a perfect world that is what you should get,, however, blue genetics can be fickle.
And yes HighStreetCoop,, cochins SHOULD be recesive white. Thats why a Black/white pairing will always come up black and not the blue that everybody thinks it would throw.

also happylife,, now that I see his baby pic,, it is a very strange coloring he has,,,, white birds should generally be yellow chicks,, while splashes and blues tend to be shades of gray,,, which looks like he has some gray in him,,, but the odd red/brown coloring is throwing a monkey wrench in the mix.
I would almost be willing to change my original diagnosis and say that he Maybe just might have some blue/splash in him. Well techinchly it's just blue as the blue is what causes splashes, but I digress.
Still,, it may be a good sign
