This is our first time hatching, and our last chick won't walk. Searched to find she has curling toes on both feet and badly splayed legs. Made shoes for the toes and it's a bit better, but hobbling the legs isn't working. She won't walk. Anything to suggestions?

also please do a search for "Splayed feet" . I know it's common to bandage as you are doing but, apparently other chicks are able to walk somehow. I often wondered about that myself. The foot on the right side of your photo looks like it's taped a little too tight., and I think people tape them a bit closer together to keep the feet under them.

I even recall someone on BYC posted putting her chick in a cup so it kept the feet under her - she wasn't taped. She also rigged some kind of little tray to it so the chick didn't have to bend down to eat or drink. I don't know how long it took but the chick was fine afterwards.

I'm sorry to hear about your chick problem. Here is some very good info I found on how to treat foot/leg problems in chicks and older chickens:

Hope that helps. Best of luck with her!
Yup, I agree with them! Good luck.
