Splayed legs?

I noticed one of my chicks that hatched today has super floppy toes and a wide stance. Does it have splayed legs? I’ll do a splint and a tape booties tomorrow if necessary.

Yes they are splayed.
The toes need boots like this to correct them

And the legs are also out side ways so may need this

It also needs lots of grip on the floor of the brooder, sometimes when it's slippery it makes the splayed legs worse

Maybe leave her in the brooder so she stays warm and then try to correct the legs once she's dry

The chick is still in the incubator with a mesh floor. I wasn’t planning on dealing with this until the chick is dry.

The chick is walking more upright today but the toes are still floppy. I think just boots will be fine.

Turns out, only the left foot needed a shoe. I used painters tape with a bandaid stuck to the bottom for traction.

The chick has been dubbed Boot.

Well, Boot's boot came off overnight. The foot looks GREAT now!

I'm thinking about it. I may need to go out to the store and get small hair bands though. I only have large ones.
