We did have a 230, 245 Massey Ferguson and a 2-85 Cab White tractor with heat and air and a cassette player/radio for years when we had a lot of land and raised cattle. We once had 250 head of cattle. Front end loader, racks, hay conditioner, bush hogs, hay baler, cultivator, plows, disks, etc. Needed all that for rolled hay, garden, etc. Those days are now over, land sold and living now on one acre with a 160 John Deere small lawn mower tractor. LOL I don't miss the 'big' farm at all!

Amen! I've been busy coop building so far this year and my pastures have gotten COMPLETELY out of hand. I 'lost' the pony the other day - couldn't see her for all the tall weeds. Usually I keep them just barely in control with the riding mower. But now I"m going to be mowing grass that I can't see over...

Okay. I still want one but...

Spook is not a real farmer. My neighbor is, and he's a cool
old guy so I guess he deserves an air conditioned tractor.

My Kubota is a L3010. Still a nice piece. 4-wheel drive and all.
Its sole function is as my lawn mower. I gotta admit, pretty nice
mower.

I startes out with a 60's something International tricycle tractor.
Not a good mower on the hill. Got a little goofy on the front end.
Plus, it only had a working brake on one rear wheel.

Being the spook that I am, I upgraded.

To the biggest 4-wheel drive Kubota the dealer had in stock. And
it had the front forks, loader bucket. Just a monster. Batwing mowers.

Problem was it was too much of a monster in my yard. Made big
ruts. Anyone ever try mowing their grass while looking over the
loader bucket? Goodby rose bushes. Goodby flowers.

Being the Spooks wife that she is, she got mad. Suggested I trade
it back in for a more realistic thing.

And repair the lawn.

So I've got the L3010 on turf tires. Still quite the lawn mower. Only
mistake I made was not getting the cab version. But then I would have
to retrim a lot of trees to fit under.

And I think we can all agree, I'm pretty lazy. Don't like trimming trees.
And my wife...she's not into the chain saw stuff either.

But I have thought on the GPS. Just don't understand.

There has to be some farmers on here. Anyone ever get lost in the field?
Forget the way to the barn?

I learned to drive on a tractor. Worked on a dairy farm some weekends when I was 16. One day boss tells me "this is a tractor, this is the clutch, break, gas, steering wheel... take her back to the barn."
Could've used GPS that day

A tractor? A 4x4 Jeep and plow will suffice on a small farm!

I know Kubota tractors are very popular with the stables around here. I even drove one while I worked at a boarding stable. Dependable!

This is why they have the GPS i found.
This technology will enable farmers to monitor and trace their tractors and tractor ’s health and performance for better control and maintenance, easy operations and improved productivity.
guess if you got workes on your tractors they can also make sure they are really working, time is money when it comes to getting crops and dry crops in.

I thought GPS is for keeping the tractor in a straight line, in plowing and planting.

Oh for pete's sake, the GPS on a lawn tractor is supposed to be hooked up to your smart phone/computer so that you can use satellite technology to plot your position and accurately mow those pretty diagonal lines in your lawn. Everybody knows that.

Of course - with my pastures, and the grass so high that I can't see where I'm going... it might actually be a good idea...
