It was wise of Copper2 to use only the initials because obviously, Copper2 was addressing his post to someone who could answer his question. Equally obvious, if one didn't know what SPPA meant, then they certainly would not have been able to help him.

APA is American Poultry Association

ABA is American Bantam Association (ABA could stand for the American Bar Association which I am a member also but this isn't a Law Forum so nobody should think you are talking about the Bar).

ALBC is the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy which changed its name to Livestock Conservancy (LC).

SPPA is the Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities

People in the poultry world also know if you say "at Columbus," you are talking about the Ohio National show or "at Knoxville," is the Dixie Classic show, "the Congress" refers to the Northeastern Poultry Congress poultry show in West Springfield, MA and not a branch of government.

Groups I would not think people would be familiar with are the specific breed clubs, ABPC (American Buckeye Poultry Club) or a specific club like WIPC (Wisconsin International Poultry Club) -- I don't know all them.
