Ha! Me too!! I think I have a chick buying problem. (But at least I admit it!)

Welcome all new members! My question is this: all you folks with 15, 20, 30 chickens what the heck are you going to do with all those eggs?

. I have 10 chicks but two definite cockerels and maybe at least one more so I'll probably have about 6 or 7 layers. That's a lot of eggs! Just curious. I know chicken math is a real thing. There are so many cool breeds and they are so beautiful and fun to watch but that's a whole lotta eggs

. And also how big are your coops for this many chickens? I'm limited by my coop size. My coop is about 36 square feet. So can't put too many in there. I guess I'm asking because I know I will want more next year but just not sure how to manage it with all those extra eggs and room in the coop.

I currently have 15. Three are only a few days old, 2 are a year old, the rest are 4 months old. Right now both of my year olds lay 4-5 eggs a week each.My golden buffs are close to laying and I imagine the barred rock, buff Orpington, and australorp won't be too far behind. My EEs look like they still have awhile to go,same with my lavender Orpingtons. I do wonder what I could possibly do with that many eggs once they all start laying but my plan is to give eggs to my neighbors and my friends. I also intend to give them to anyone in need because I do frequently see people looking for food donations in our area. My coop is 40sqft with a 10×12 attached run. They also have another run that is 6×16 outside of the coop/attached run.

I make a hot breakfast M-F for my family, weekends they are on their own. Thats 6-8 eggs a day the 4 of us use. I have 7 chicks, hopefully all girls:) I think I may have maybe a dozen a week extra, and I have like 4 people who want to buy them.

We eat a log of eggs at my house. I plan on sharing with friends and family. Also, selling them if there are that many. Long term, I am going to school to open my own bakery. This will take care of the eggs. :) Out of the 14 we have I think 3 are boys. So that gives us 11 layers.

Your own bakery! Oh man that's awesome. Special discount for fellow BYC members right?! =P

So much anticipation for my baby chicks. My tenants have 9. I love them. So excited to have my own. My only worry is, we get our day olds 2 weeks before we move. So to keep safe was going to use a large closet (8×6) to keep safe from dog and cat. It being dark except for lamp or mhp be a bad thing. Temped to make a makeshift hardwire cloth screen door until we move. Is this no big deal?
