Spring Granny Square Swap

Good to know the attachments aren't expensive. Thanks for the info. Free motion stippling is not what I was interested in anyway. I do a lot of specific shapes like trees, animals, insects etc. I think I'll stick with the applique for now. I'm used to it so it's easier for me. I thought the free motion might be an easier way to get this done but sometimes new gadgets are not all they're cracked up to be. Hope your yarn comes soon.

Yeah! my yarn came. Goody, goody, goody. Now I'm up to my eyebrows with Christmas shopping and baking. I have to get cookies off to my granddaughter and grandson that's in the army on Monday. Kitchen here I come! My nine baby chicks are doing fine and are growing fast. I have pictures but will post later. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good for you! Have fun!!!! I can't wait to have time to do a little baking. I hope I can fit some in this season. We plunged back into DD's room this afternoon and started installing the floors. The renovating is putting me behind on all my x-mas stuff, but that's ok. It's worth it to finally get things going.

Got my baking done and in containers. Just have to box them. Think I might make some bread today and set it to rise before getting in my sewing room. It's time to bind the quilt and then make the label. I'll be glad to have it finished. I'm finishing up an afghan that I just started making for the heck of it. I often do that and then put them away and use them as a gift when I need one. My husband has a friend that's in and out of the hospital and when he's home he's always cold so may give it to him If I get it finished in time.

We have a storm coming in Monday that may drop snow levels down to the Kern County deserts and that is us except we're so close to the mountains they sometimes protect us from the worsed part of a storm. I'd like to see a little snow though.

All of our snow from the last few storms has finally melted. I need a couple weeks of clear weather to finish winterizing everything here first! It can snow for Christmas day then everyone will have already arrived and be safely off the roads.

What did you bake Betty? I used to post everything I did on the baking thread but there were so many delicious recipes on there that I started putting on too much weight! I should go on now though to get more ideas for holiday baking. Just can't afford to hang out there all the time.

I made sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies. I think most kids and grandkids like them. Today I made Amish white bread which is really just a basic bread. I just got a loaf and some rolls from the rest on the second rise so they'll go in the oven in about an hour. A friend gave me some frozen elderberries a few weeks ago and I really need to get them made into jelly and maybe some syrup for pancakes. If I get them done before I go to my daughters the week before Christmas I can take some jelly along with maybe a fresh loaf of bread and some cookies and candy for the boys. Isn't that what grandma's are for? lol I'll mail the cookies tomorrow for my service grands and I usually send fudge and cookies to my son in OK. My other son I rarely hear from and don't have an address for. My other two daughters do their own baking so I don't send them goodies like I did before they married.

I just noticed my weather alert is flashing so had better read the update.

Betty~ All those cookies & bread and just everything sound so yummy! You have some lucky kids and grand kids to receive such yummy good treats. I hope the weather doesn't get to bad for you.

Sunny~ Yes, DD is going to LOVE her new room. We plunged back into it today and got the rest of the flooring in except the very last strip that is a smaller width than the width of the flooring. We cheated and didn't take the baseboards off so now DH is up there putting the quarter round trim down. Still lots to do before she can get back in there, but it's on it's way to FINALLY getting done. YAY!!! Have fun baking tomorrow!
