Spring Granny Square Swap

Happy Monday~

Alethea~ you should post pic of the extra squares you are making to add to your swap ones.

Sunny~ I will definitely post a pic when I'm finished w/ DD's afghan. Who knows when that will be.

I'm going to try to work on it a little each night before bed time. Since it is thin cotton yarn it is going to take a while. I should have chosen a bigger hook and a bigger stitch. I also went a little over board on the width b/c I knew being cotton it might shrink a bit. I keep reminding her if she wants it to stay as big as it is to make sure she washes it in cold water, delicate.

I'll post a picture of the squares. I'm not sure how many to make; it will depend on how many swap squares there are. I want it to be pretty big, something of a bedspread.

What? I haven't done anything. I'm just working on squares so I'm ready to make an afghan when the swap squares arrive.
Pretty sure Kat is right. I think Betty meant to address that to her.

Thanks for the dahlia square pattern Kat! That is really pretty!

I guess we are getting close to the end of this swap. I think I'll take a run by Joann's fabrics when I head into town tomorrow and see if I spot a few colors that will match the theme for the next swap. Looking forward to seeing everyone's squares!

Sunny-I found a partial skein of something which might work for the jewel swap. It's Dawn Sayelle, made by american thread. The color is 318 royal blue. The thing which makes me think it might work is that it has a sheen which makes it remind me of a star sapphire I had decades ago. The skein I have is very old and it is possible they don't make it any more.

Yes you are correct. They don't make it anymore. I found that brand in sales of vintage yarns but couldn't find a picture of that color. You had me so intrigued when you mentioned the sheen it had. I love yarns with a subtle sheen! I'm going to hit the fabric store today to see if they have anything that jumps out at me.

Congrats on the new chickees Canesisters! They are sooo cute!

I have eggs due tomorrow in the bator. Anyone else with eggs cookin?

New baby chicks are fun. I have quail eggs in the incubator right now due in about 5 days. Those chicks are so cute....

I haven't heard anymore about the blocks. I'm still waiting on blocks from Writer of Words and Roccomanchickens. I have less than 3 weeks to get them sorted and mailed so Writer and her class can get theirs before school ends. I love looking at them and can't wait to get them to all of you so you can enjoy also.

I've been looking at yarn also to see what brands have the jewel colors. I'm limited here so if I don't buy at Joann's I'll order on line.
