"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

I have 1 pipped turkey egg.

Had a 2 hour power outage today. Hope it didn't mess them up.

Had to work all weekend but got home in time to get my turkey eggs collected. My hens have given me 28 eggs in 3 days. So I should have at least 40 plus when I set on thurs.
I have that one too. I got tired of fighting the turner wire so I taped it place.

I tried the taping, still was a problem. Plus, I had eggs on two shelves..and it was hard turning them. I didn't have a turner? Had to take the whole shelf out to turn them. Not sure what wires mine were. It's been a while. Ask my brain to remember yrs. ago.

You could try peepers to keep her from seeing directly in front of her. You could also saddle the two girls she was picking on.
I actually thought of saddles at least for the 1. The one that is worse was actually chewed on from above the base of her tail, down her left side down past her tail and her what I can only describe as her backside. It's healing but growing new skin may take a little bit. It had gotten infected even with putting neosporin on it. I scrubbed it with antibacterial soap and got all the green off. Then poured peroxide on it and put a thin layer of neosporin on it. The next day I let it dry to see how it looked and she was growing a scab. But it's to low for an apron to cover it so she is staying inside. The other hen I put in a cage in the coop so she don't get picked on and can't get away. I let all 4 of those girls out to free range during the day.

I'll be going to walmart to get material to make aprons tomorrow. I noticed today that the hen outside that has pin feathers doesn't now so my hen pecker has pared her back again. An apron will solve that issue as well.

I attempted to let the one I have inside out to free range with the other girls during the day and 3 of them attacked her. I don't understand why because they all hatched together and have been together till now. These are aussie/maran mixes and have been tame till now. They're nice to me just not to each other. They aren't hungry or lacking nutrients because they get layer pellets, scratch grains, I pull chick weed everyday for them all for greens. Then I cook sweet potatos once a week as well as they share a can of salmon or tuna once a week. I scramble a dozen eggs a week also and divide it up between 10 chickens. So I don't think the cannibalism is coming from a lack of nutrition.

Sad face for CH 33. I know what I did wrong when I packed that box.... Learning process... I tried to squeeze too many in there... Just not having good luck and unfortunetly I am a person that needs to learn by mistakes... Sorry kiddo.
