Is yours one of the newer digital ones? I have one of each, a 9200 and a 9300. My 9200 (not digital, has the big metal heating element instead of the small plastic one) has always been reliable, and I got it secondhand and have had it forever. I bought the 9300 brand new, and I hate it. I can set a full turner (42 eggs) and end up with 8-10 chicks. Very frustrating. I've been looking at Hovabators too.

Yes, I just got it about a week ago. It's the model that has a fan and it came with the egg turner. After some adjustments, and waiting..i finally got it to temp last night. It just takes forever to stabilize after opening the lid. My brinsea gets back to normal super quick after putting the lid back on after candling, so I guess it just takes patience lol. But I'm afraid to open the lid now.
My hatch is all finished! I got 10 out of 11, and it looks like number 11 was not alive for at least a week when candled. I got 6 adorable white silkies and 4 Plymouth rock that are crossed with my any other rooster winner. They are all nice and healthy.
Then, I got to candle the rest of the eggs in the incubator. Had to throw out 27 because they were clear.
I bought a new Americauna show rooster, and payed a pretty penny for him, but it appears that he is infertile. I have seen him strut his rooster stuff, but I never saw him on top of a female even once. :-( This is the third batch of eggs that I've tried hatching from him. I don't know if I should call the people I got him from or not, but I need a new roo. They win many awards at national competitions for their Americaunas. I'm bummed because I have wasted so much time waiting to get some chicks from him. Oh well, I am thrilled to have my white silkies.
I moved the rooster and his two hens off to their own pen, just in case he is intimidated by the other hens in the pen, but I'm not real hopeful. He is so beautiful too. Bummer.
I have a good many eggs in my incubator, i have 3 amerucana, 2 bramah, 9 barred rocks, and 6 guinea eggs.( my guineas wont hatch for a while ) we have 5 days left, at around 7:30 it will be 4 days.
set 45 eggs on saturday morning! 5 CCL, 12 BLRW, the rest are english jubilee orps! some of those are a week old, but they went in anyway, we'll see how well they do. Gave them all a vent trim and put my own roo in with them since I know he is fertile....
Should have lots of chicks on the 23rd!!
I also have a pygmy doe due on the 22nd and one due the following week! These will be my first (and theirs!) and I am excited/nervous!!
Yesterday I candled my first batch of eggs. There were 2 bielefelder eggs that looked clear. I couldn't tell with some of the darker eggs but In all of the other eggs I was able to see some viening and/or movement. Really cool to see the embryo moving! Looked like 22 out of 24 are developing but all eggs are still in the bator in case I am wrong.
I'll have to recheck in the notes but my air cell looked small. (About the size of a quarter) So, I'm going to run it dry for now.
Really excited to have this many eggs looking viable so far!
Just gonna jump in. My pigeons are sitting on 3 eggs, and so far 2 have hatched! The one named Rattytwoie (
) hasn't hatched yet, but hopefully should hatch tomorrow. The two that hatched so far are Rattytwoie's uncles/aunts.
I also have 6 duck eggs developing that should hatch around April 21, and some quail eggs that should hatch the 25th. Plus I just ordered some Chocolate Orp mix eggs that should come in soon, and some pure breed Ameraucana eggs, and some more call duck eggs
