"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Update. I candled the egg last night and the embryo is pretty big, I'm not sure that I have twins but it doesn't look like it. Must just have been my imagination, it has some pretty big veins, maybe since it's a lot bigger it will hatch early?
I hope it is only one. Good luck!

@billiejw89 Sorry to hear bout the chick. It happens. Probably would have had problems if it made it anyway. I hate loosing them.

@mlm Mike Thanks for the welcome. 21 days feels like forever esp. when you are looking at all the cute fluffy butts on the thread!
21 days goes quickly. It really does.

@Sally Sunshine here is he chick from the huge blue/green egg. I didn't think it was going to make it. It wouldn't stand and has slept since it hatched friday morning. But this morning it was up running around in short bursts in the Hatcher.
I hope it's doing even better now.

We are one day 20 and have two pips, both in my Dominique's eggs (paternal lineage either CCL or Rhodebar)! No peeping though...is that normal?
Sometimes they are noisy sometimes they are not.

Well out of the 41 eggs. Thirty five are out and healthy. One I had to assist and there was bleeding. I have him in the bator he's moving and breathing. But hasn't opened its eyes yet. Don't know if will make it.
Congratulations on the hatch! I hope the one makes it.

No call out...still. :( They were due last night.
Sorry, I hope they come soon.

Hello Everyone!!!

Apparently my computer is protesting "multi-quoting" so after all that work, I lost my posting... Therefore, to all that have new fluff-butts, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

To those that lost some babies, I'm really sorry for your lose. It's never easy.

Molly is a beautiful puppy dog, I love the photo of her getting belly rubs from that cute little girl. It's very darling!!!

As for my incubating adventure, I have 14 chicks currently hatched and several others pipped. I'm expecting at least 5 more chicks before bed tonight. My chicks hatched/are hatching a little early but all seem well formed and healthy so far.

Yes, that multi-quote error seems to go around to everyone. Congratulations on your hatch, I hope the rest goes well.

My English Orps are due to hatch tuesday.

My Broody hens hatched 7 Serama babies yesterday and this morning I have 6 out in the incubator and another 8 or 9 eggs in there. I obviously can't count because I only thought I had a dozen.

 Congratulations!

I will have a BO chick to compare them to in a few days

Ugh, so frustrated. I had 18 Lavender D'Anvers eggs in the incubator on day 10, half of them were clears.

I bought them from ebay because they were cheaper rather than papa's poultry (where i've been purchasing my others and had ~95% fertility with them. So mad at myself for thinking they'd be just as good! I have had generally good luck with eggs purchased on ebay being fertile even if they aren't show quality birds. First time for everything I guess.

Update: number 36 that's what I'm calling him for some odd reason. Is still alive opening its eyes and moving around the bator. Still looks a little weak. But I'm having high hopes for number 36 now!!

@Sally Sunshine

Total hatched to date for April is 24.
There are assorted mutts, Naked Necks, White Plymouths, and Erminett type EEs.

Still going:
Sebastopol goose
Barnyard mutts
Marans x EE (OE)
Columbian Wyandottes
Langshan
BLR Wyandottes

Hey fellow chicken lovers. I have Copper Maran chickens in the incubator. I ordered Araucana hatching eggs at the same time and I'm disappointed that they haven't arrived yet. They were due to arrive last Wednesday avow is Saturday and they were laid 11 days ago. So maybe I won't have blue eggs this year but I'm excited about the prospect of getting copper/brown eggs this year.
WELCOME!!!! how far did you order them from?

I got worried about the eggs (and rest of the farm) a few times, but I was in Cozumel and Belize and Roatan, so what was I going to do about it?? Belly up and have another piña colada, that's what.

Had 5 hatch today, two ameraucanas and 3 mixes. Babies are so cute and fluffy.
congrats!!!!!

20 of my 24 eggs are fertile and still doing well at 14 days. The PR fridgerbator maintains temp and humidity very well. The air cells are right on target. I'll scrub the hatching MacGyverbator soon and get it running for Thursday lockdown.

Ok guys so 30 chicks out. Well actually 32 left two in the bator cause they were wet. Still have eggs pipped and moving ready to hatch. Just had to get these guys out cause it was crowded. Out of a full egg turner witch I think is 41 or 42 eggs 32 so far and more coming!! I'm happy with that hatch rate!!!

OK. I am late to the thread but I have a very persistent White Phoenix broody (sitting for a week now) who just received a breeders choice mix of LF and Bantam Cochin eggs. Do you think she will notice the tail difference? LOL!

tomorrow/ Sunday is day 10 for the 15 Black Penedesenca eggs. So I will be weighing & recording the weights. I'll let you know what they are compared to the original weights so that hopefully someone can let me know how they are doing.
