Chick hatched with yolk unabsorbed! What should I do? I didn't see it till now, don't know how long it's been out it is still wet. the other chicks were picking at it. I put it in a plastic cup by itself in the bator.

thats all you can do and perhaps iodine it or beta dine for bacteria, keep it separate and let it attempt to absorb if it is up and will take in some electrolytes offer a little to it, dont ever force feed a chick unless you are tubing it, most people kill them doing this via aspiration

Day 20, waiting is so hard!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I have an announcement to make:


Jace has hatched 5/6 fertile eggs!!!!!

The 6th one, I am not sure if it was actually fertile or not. Looked clear when candled, with a lot of fluid? Broke it open and it looked like a clear, but it had sort of a murky fluid so I dunno if that was an early quitter.

I'm counting it as such though.... All the rest were obviously clear.

That surprises me! Quail eggs are all the rage at Asian markets, I would think Banti eggs are right up there. I'd buy some!! ( and put them in my incubator)

Too fiddly to crack....... And it messes up how many you do in recipes. :/
