I have 6 Silver Spangle Spitzhauben, 5 pullet and 1 roo, this morning. These arrived in time for another storm. They were thirsty, cold and small. Now they are warm, hydrated (I love electrolytes) and small.

I have a chick. In a chick bowl. Get it! Just add water and you have chicken soup!

I do have a question thought. One of the chicks seems to have a bad leg. It doesn't look like straddle leg to me. She has to kinda hop around to move and it sicks out behind her. What do you think this is? Should I watch it or is there a treatment? It is her back right leg that sicks out. Or it could be the left leg is just too weak or sticks in?






Note - My internet is intermittent and slow today. I will respond though. Thank you so much for any advise.

I have 8 Bieles in lockdown and 13 Ameraucana. 1 Am has hatched and 1 has pipped.

The little chick died. I think maybe it had the cord around its leg and the yolk came out? I'm not sure. The yolk had ruptured also.

My first Legbar egg has hatched! And it's s girl!

Well I made it to the desktop. Here is a picture of one of the 6 day old seramas (white) next to a day old regular size chick(not sure what breed).

These guys are enablers. Build 2 not 1.... Set more eggs.... Grrrrr

giggles I have plenty of eggs ha ha ha this is a old image I have dozens right now uggggghhhh pot pie time!!

Well I got home yesterday to 1 EE pip. And absolutely nothing changed until this morning. 4 more pips. So I left the 5 pips and waited all day again. I did sneak home at lunch and the first one was starting to zip.
I checked the chick cam (which is still watching the preggo dog) and the dog is sleeping. But somebody had to have hatched because there is a lot of little chicky noises in the background on our camera.
And guess what.... I get to work late this evening. The joy of it all! I'm gonna go crazy.

Um, I just skipped the last 700 posts... was anything interesting going on?

2 of my (supposed to be silver) quail eggs hatched, both not silver

. But my order of chicks came in at our farm supply came in so now I have 6 new chicks! 3 white leghorn 3 buff orpington

OK so this is the Gamefowl chick that hatched but it's really weird. It can't stand up without falling over onto its side or back and its upper beak is shorter than the bottom. Also what's up with its breathing (in the video)? Can you see the space between its beak and eye? These were shipped eggs and I have a really bad gut feeling that this defective baby will be the only to hatch.

I am now addicted to this and want to know everything.....and I must confess I did intervene on a few and if I had not they would have not made it.

Just got a count, started hatching very early this morning. It wasn't delayed as I feared if woukd be. Lost electricity at least 3 times during this incubation, once it was for a little over an hour. The other was just for a couple of unites at a time.

Anyway there were 47 out of 70 that had hatched so far.

That head twitch is doesn't look good either.
