"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Sorry for the delay but it's been busy at work and the pictures were lost for a few days between my wife's phone and my computer. Anyway here are my two Icelandic chicks. They are about 3 days old when these were taken this past Saturday.

This little girl (boy?) hatched first Thursday morning.

This is Bandit due to the masks around the eyes. She/he hatched Thursday evening.

So far, so good. They love the Mama heating pad that I made for them. (thanks Blooie!)
Oh, they are cute! And you're welcome!

I had to dash to work, but going to bed last night there were 5 hatched, this morning, official HatchDay 21, there were many little wet babies in there. It's a lot of hatching, wiggling babies, and I will count them when I get home. There were 35 eggs.

Chick #1 is out! He pipped this morning around 6am,then at about noon, she zipped and hatched like lightning! She's strong and flopping and chirping like crazy!

The first two that pipped yesterday are slowly zipping out. I'm so happy!

Quote: Good luck passing the new babies as these, how old is your son?
He is 14 on the autism spectrum which is why I really didn't want to tell him right before school about the dead chick since that could have been a root to a meltdown later today.

Oh, having one granddaughter with Autism (high functioning) and her little sister with Spina Bifida and more severe Autism I can sure relate!! We have a thread here for kids with disabilities and chickens if you'd like to join us! Let me know and I'll post you a link when I get home, if our thread honchos wouldn't mind a momentary hijack.....
