are they local or shipped! Mike has Icelandic's! and I have some of his in my bator!!!

They are being shipped. I don't know of many people in my area who have chickens. The few that I see around here seem to be mostly feed store chicks.

I retired my incubator, have diligently collected every egg from my devious broody hens, and was planning to avoid the hatch-a-long thread altogether this year, but here I am. Three of my banty hens were pitifully setting on empty nests and I felt so sorry for them I had to give in. I bought 6 baby chicks with the intention of putting 2 under each of them, but one hen decided all the chicks belonged to her, so that plan was foiled. I gave the second and third hens back a few random barnyard eggs to incubate and figured we were done. Then, while perusing the local Craigslist farm-and-garden posts, I discovered BBS Orpington eggs for sale literally around the corner from me! So I bought 6 of those and put them under the second hen while transferring all the barnyard eggs to the third hen. Somehow I'm up 18 chickens from a week ago and obsessing over ebay hatching egg auctions! This is dangerous territory..

You have to let broody hens have eggs! It's the only proper thing to do. Welcome!
