HI there, yes, I do hatch them with my first-graders as often and as long as the teachers next door can handle the peeping! :) We have an open concept school with no back walls or doors.
I figure that if I am hatching, they might as well enjoy. And, they just love it! I have had many parents in tears, saying that they have never witnessed this before! It is so special!

I am very excited about the contests. How fun!

As I was turning the eggs this evening, I decided to shine the light on them, I was very surprised!! Day 3 and we were able to see what I assume is a little heart beating!!! The kids loved it. 17 of the 18 serama eggs have veining and one we aren't sure about yet. So exciting!!!

To all of the newcomers! Looking forward to photos! A few are going to be hatching soon. I had a friend message me and ask, do you have room in your bator for 12 eggs? I say sure. He comes by, with Blue Orpington, Jubilee Orpinton, Blue Copper Marans, Barnevelder, and another that stats with a B..can't remember. Oh man, I hope I don't mess this up!
This newcomer says THANKS! And I hear ya... My first hatch was a complete fiasco, this second hatch is making me crazy.... It's day 20 And I haven't heard a peep or a pip..... And the 33rd hatch is a batch my neighbor brought over... I will feel terrible if they don't make it because of my learning curve.

I just got the 8 chicks. The last one has improved a little. It can't stand or walk. It keeps rolling onto it's back but the fluid is gone from it's lungs. I really don't think it's gonna make it but I'll give it some time.
