I want in on this HAL

I have one banty-of-some-kind egg given to me by my uncle to hatch for him, I'm not sure what it is...maybe I should surprise him with a couple of serama!

Go for it! You can't just have one egg in there anyway!

He says that I can keep what I want.  Not really into Orpington's as egg layers, and I know they go broody.  But oh boy, I didn't mention that there is one..only one..Golden Laced Orpington in there!   Look them up!  I just may want to keep it, or a blue, or a Jubilee.  Eenie, meenie, miney, moe.  :p    I guess I can try have my regular broody area clear of juveniles for a future broody big girl.  I really think some of these are English O's.   Some of those eggs are huge..the blues especially.  I've had a buff Orpington, the eggs weren't that big.  The Golden Laced isn't real big.

Golden laced are very nice. Keep me in mind if it's a rooster. :lau

I've been working with my English Blues that were not the best layers, pretty but not functional. Better now but juries still out on them. And the biggest egg did not do well in incubator this time around. Little bummed about that. Humidity was a problem this hatch so still hope.

Put some eggs in the incubator and some under my broody hen today. I am so nervous!
What are you nervous about?

HI there, yes, I do hatch them with my first-graders as often and as long as the teachers next door can handle the peeping! :) We have an open concept school with no back walls or doors.
I figure that if I am hatching, they might as well enjoy. And, they just love it! I have had many parents in tears, saying that they have never witnessed this before! It is so special!

I am very excited about the contests. How fun!
Who could complain about peeping chicks?

The school sounds pretty special.

I hope you had a nice visit, and a wonderful Easter

It was wonderful. Lots of family and food.

How was yours?

The cob for the pens were actually raised by me. I try to get the most colorful ones. Blue corn and red corn do the best as the cobs have color as well. They are labor intensive and require a lot of super glue to keep them on the pen bushing.
