Ok pretty sure I need to help this chick,external pip this morning and still isn't zipping. Beak is out chirping and breathing. The air cell is on top. Membrane looks clear when moistened. Can I use Neosporin generic? With out pain reliever on the membrane?I have read all the info about assisting. If they don't need to eat or drink for a couple of days should I just leave it alone? 4 others have hatched out..

Well-

I'm up to 3 broods as of today. No telling how many eggs are under them either.

A Blue Copper Marans, a Black Copper Marans and a Cuckoo Marans

I'm thinking Marans may be a broody breed.

There goes my egg sales.

I hope no others go broody! The white Marans was looking at the others though. It is like a contagious disease.

Any wild bird experts? My cat thought this was dinner; she was mad at me when I told her no. Not sure if I'll be able to find it's nest in the morning but not sure momma would take it back since it is hurt. Got a teeny toothmark, I used antiseptic and wrapped it in a bandaid as there's no way to stitch something that small.

Pip to zip could take 24 hours, how many hours has it been?

Since this morning. So around 8 hrs. I can leave her overnight and see in the morning? If she is breathing. Should I use the Neosporin or just keep the humidity higher.

did you read the info I gave? timeline is here, and remember an malposition under the air cell is BOTH and internal and external pip!!!
