"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

I just did a bunch of separating last week. That is a big job, but it feels good when it is done. I can't wait for the spring rain! I'm ready. My chickens are too! Love your mug shot. What kind of chick is that?
The chick is a gold Pavlovskaya. This one hatched without leg feathers but they normally have beards crests and leg feathers.

Im hatching 13 RIR and 18 Ameraucanas on or about April 21st!
Awesome!

My hatch is all finished! I got 10 out of 11, and it looks like number 11 was not alive for at least a week when candled. I got 6 adorable white silkies and 4 Plymouth rock that are crossed with my any other rooster winner. They are all nice and healthy.

Then, I got to candle the rest of the eggs in the incubator. Had to throw out 27 because they were clear.

I bought a new Americauna show rooster, and payed a pretty penny for him, but it appears that he is infertile. I have seen him strut his rooster stuff, but I never saw him on top of a female even once. :-( This is the third batch of eggs that I've tried hatching from him. I don't know if I should call the people I got him from or not, but I need a new roo. They win many awards at national competitions for their Americaunas. I'm bummed because I have wasted so much time waiting to get some chicks from him. Oh well, I am thrilled to have my white silkies.

I moved the rooster and his two hens off to their own pen, just in case he is intimidated by the other hens in the pen, but I'm not real hopeful. He is so beautiful too. Bummer.
Congratulations on the hatch! If the rooster is infertile, a good respectable breeder would want to know.

Good Morning! Man o man those Ducks!! Soo cute! How's cleft beak Duck?

We are 11 hours into Hatch Day!! I have 5 in the bator still and 4 hatched! They're so cute! I ended up having to snip the cord so the OEGB could get free. It dried up and was hard, he pulled it around pretty good but kept getting caught in-between eggs and it seemed to be bothering it so I snipped it considering I was putting it in the brooder. It seemed relieved. They are all eating and chirping away!
Good Morning!

I'm glad your hatch is going well!

Well, I can see that I'm already super far behind in posts! 24 EE/OE eggs and 12 Royal Palm turkey eggs went into the incubator on Friday, April 1st. Our new coop is almost complete, just need to add some roosting bars and put wire around the run. Progress has been a little slow on it since one week it will be in the 70s-80s and the following week, we'll have 3-4 inches of snow XD

I'm very far behind in posts again! :th

Day 18 update on the Tolbunt polish!! @lindalouly

14 have made it to lockdown and are looking good :D One had quit when I candled :(

:fl for a good hatch.
