I understand. I had never actually seen a basement until I moved to MS...

Wow... that's a lot of clears. Sorry to hear that. Having fertility problems, perhaps?

Hello, #1. Welcome to the world!!! Good luck with the rest!!!

I have a heat pad cave that I use when my chicks get a couple of weeks old, but if it's any consolation, my day olds spend most of their time huddled under the heat plate (Sweeter Heater), too. As long as they're quite and aren't chirping loudly, then they should be nice and toasty.
Thanks!

Well the silkies were from an eBay auction. I'm glad they sent 18 vs 12 because with that rate I would have had a lot less. They must know the fertility wasn't high and send all those extras to help. They were shipped from 100 miles away and arrived in 1 day. All air cells looked great. Hoping a few more develope, but at 6 days I should have seen something more.

The other mixes are from farms and a friend. Friends 4 look clear and most of the farms look good.

Usually get 3 extras per dozen with shipped eggs, so it does seem to indicate the seller thought there might be a problem. That's why I like to get eggs from people who do fertility tests (cracking eggs open) or test hatches before starting to sell. If the air cells were intact and it only took 1 day to travel a mere 100 miles, the clears can't be blamed on rough handling or a lengthy arrival time. Sounds like an infertility issue to me. Just a hunch...

Yay! I just disbudded my goats today! My first time! Luckily I had someone to watch over me and I think I did pretty good! Lol. You will love seramas!
Good job! I don't think I'm ready to do it myself yet. The vet only charged $38 to do 4 goats and they all got their 1st CD&T too! We have 2 chickies now and 1 more zipping. The 2nd one is trying to help the 3rd one hatch....or maybe trying to eat him lol. My 6 year old son wanted seramas badly! He is very content tonight!
