"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

we are up to 11 serama chicks. Still waiting on 6 (1 has small pip).

The eggs in the LG are doing well, I think we are at 26 viable eggs.

I have 18 Turkey eggs waiting to go in as soon as the serama chicks are done.

Not that I would, but how do you cheat? Posting pix of neighbors' chickens?

Not chickens but my broody turkey hens.

They are setting on 20 eggs between them.
So pretty!!!!! I bet they can get scary as broodies?

Numbers 4 and 5

CONGRATS!!!!! great catch number four is lovely!!!

I don't understand why, but two eggs that were zipping yesterday evening died during the night. The power remained on all night, the temp and RH were correct when I walked in. They were just stillborn. Also one of the chicks that had already hatched had died in the night. I took the four "early risers" over to their brooder in case there was some problem there. This afternoon I have two more eggs that have pipped and are in the process of zipping, but they were zipping from "underneath." I turned them upward, but that's all the help I gave then put the incubator lid back on immediately. I have plenty of RH, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Anyone know what breed the "bantams" are though? If my mom approves it, I may as well get a breed I like. And I would love silkies but I know at TSC that is not likely. But they're only $2.99 and the other breeds are $1.99 but of course the minimum is 6 there. But they also just got a new shipment in since the last time we went earlier this week. And the old bantams are still there, in a separate bin, 8 of em, with little wing feathers already. 8 of my LF girls BARELY fit in our 3x3 (I think) TSC coop kit and are getting a new 4x8 coop we are building now (on a 6x8 base, for nest boxes and storage) but maybe 8 little bantams could fit? Of course it could be better for just a few, maybe 4. But with the minimum being 6 and the older babies still there, I don't wanna leave 2 poor lonely little things there and wanna rescue them all. Or get some younger ones too, I don't know. But anyone know what breed? Probably varies by store but ours ALL appear the same breed, same exact color. Not quite as yellow as the Cornish X's but maybe creamy whitish? Not really white, creamy yellowy whitey type thing? Black beak.

your not assisting? No, Should I be? I was afraid to help not knowing if yolk had been absorbed.
how powerful is your fan? It came with the brooder (Farm Innovations 4250)
humidity didnt dip? No, unless it dipped while I wasn't looking.

what are you running it at? Temp 100, RH 67-68

Thanks for your help with this.

only issue with TSC silkies is I have yet to see good quality and by that I mean such a big difference its nuts in the size of the head balls and fluffyness!!
