"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

@Chaos18

My results

First Hatch

3 Clears
7 DIS (1 zipped 3/4 then went toward small end and suffocated)
10 Hatched

Under Broody

3 DIS (3/4 zipped)
1 Hatched

Second Hatch (hatches 3 days apart)

3 Early Quitters
1 DIS
8 Hatched

I did eggtopsies and there was a lot of fluid in the eggs (so even though I thought they had adequate moisture loss I'm assuming I didn't)
Thoughts?

I think this is a horrible average.
Sorry, were this shipped eggs or your own/local?

I am out. My incubator ran away yesterday and cooked the eggs, quail, OE's and SFH. I am going to take a break. I think I will save up money for a new incubator before I hatch again. I don't even have any tears, just numb. My washing machine decided to flood the kitchen too. Bad day for appliances. The only bright spot is that my Bantam Wyandotte girl started laying, a beautiful pale pink egg.
I am so sorry about the incubator and washing machine flood. Glad to hear your Bantam Wyandotte started laying a pretty egg.

My,parents said I can't incubate anymore

I guess it's time to take a break then.

@Sally Sunshine @mlm Mike I updated on the other thread, but figured I would here as well.

Day 50 for my two eggs from the first batch. One of those eggs is tapping on the shell and PEEPING in the egg (no action from the other that I can see). Day 45 for the three from the second batch. Almost there!!!!

So excited about messy ducks getting here. Now, if they just hatch. Everything seems to be a little off with this hatch. I am sure we all feel this way at times.

A break might be just what is needed. Also, sorry about the flood. That is a mess and one you likely just didn't need.

SO JEALOUS! What a beauty that must be. My kids want to be get some pink layers for them. I have no idea how to go about that but I will try.

My,parents said I can't incubate anymore
Like I tell my kids "Because I said so. It doesn't have to make sense." Good LUCK!

Just in case anyone was following: Update on chick with leg issue (I tried to keep this short and sweet as this is an incubating thread not injury thread)
I treated as if she had straddle leg ... I taped her feet in shoes....I removed these the braced her leg.
I have been giving her vitamins and electrolytes in a dropper. She is eating and drinking hardily on her own though.
This morning her leg was slightly improved. So, we are continuing vitamins, electrolyte, and monitoring.

Also, I see A TON OF PEOPLE have their noses pressed the 'bators today watching hatchings. CONGRATS to all!!!! I love reading the updates, photos, and learning from your questions and experience.
