"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Well, despite my being infinitely behind on posts, I figured I'd provide an update. Only 1 of my 24 shipped EE eggs with bad air cells made it to lockdown and since it's on day 23 with no sign of life, I'm going to assume this little bugger is done for too. It'll be the last time I get eggs from that seller, no fault of hers, just that the eggs are obviously tossed around pretty hard on that route :(

In other news, my turkey eggs are on day 23 also and going into lockdown this week. 9 of the original 12 are still kicking (1 was infertile, 2 stopped developing around 14 days) so I'm super excited for my first turkey poults ever. I've since set 15 more turkey eggs and they're all developing, and I plan to keep setting them as I get them!

If it is labeled as non medicated, all flock, or poultry it is non medicated.
If it is labeled as chick starter that is hormone free and antibiotic free it is probably medicated. Usually with lacosicid. This stuff makes the eggs highly toxic for dogs, and will cause reproductive issue for mammals eating the eggs.

Wow really? Well that's weird and seems kinda scary but also maybe illegal? What if it's labeled starter/grower? Also, Google turned up zero results for that? Is it maybe spelled different or something? There were literally zero results and it kept thinking i meant some seizure medicine spelt a bit different

Started this motley clutch on April 10th. Starting from the motor of the egg turner are 9 eggs in the first 2 rows, from my son's Ag Sciences teacher. The next 12, starting with the bantams, are from my dad's mixed flock. The 20 others are from a friends mixed flock. The teachers are Ameraucana. My dad's are the Tractor Supply variety. Friends are Barred Plymouth Rock rooster and hens, Wellsummer hen, and other unknown hens.
Such pretty eggs. Good luck with your hatch!
