springtime post your new chick pics

We just got our very first chicks at the end of March! 2 RIR(Birdie, & Belle) & 1 EE(Blue)...unfortunately even though they were all sexed as pullets, at 6 weeks Blue started crowing!

Luckily we found him a great home with a neighbor who has lots of land and chickens! My Husband and I are just loving this experience! I also wanted to say that this website has been so awesome, and we are so thankful for it! It has taught us practically everything about chickens, and also how to build an awesome coop! Last week we got 2 Black Sex Link chicks!(Evie & Ellie) to add to our crew!

mine gave birth over wendsday and thursday morning, the crew is a mix of marans and light sussex-five healthy chicks altogether-unfortunately had had one more egg but it was pointed and also did candling so had knew all along it was not going to develop to full term.

am living in residential care for kids/teens and adults on the severe and profound spectrums of autism and was given the goahead to incubate so our old exbat henny coud have some friends eventualy when theyre grown enough, but staff and the owner of the service has liked the effort have put in that they want it to be a regular thing as we have had a lot of chickens taken by foxes here and at our farm.

the chicks are all named within a theme; the theme being very fitting for where am living-autism,theyre all named after people who have had a lot to do with autism awareness as well as recognition of autism-kanner [after leo kanner],temple [after temple grandin],lorna [after lorna wing],tito [after tito mukhopadhyay],and the final chick has been named by a young friend of mine-annabel,though staff call her blondie. :p
