“I’m higher ranked!” Copper gobbled. This was going nowhere. Why didn’t she back down? The dumpy was obviously inferior to him, the great Copper!

“And yet I have more witts” she retorted. Why didn’t he back down? He was clearly not with it mentally like she was and he had to know she wasn’t the sort who backed down.

Acorn was pecking the ground medatively, thinking about what it would take to ensure the flock's survival. They needed water.

“Shut your beak, dumpy!” Copper shot back authoritatively, and continued on, using all of his willpower to not look back and engage in yet another million year staring contest.

“Scratch sucker. Or Massive Waste of Space, if you will,” Acorn interrupted. She stared meaningfully at all of the conscious members of their flock, which happened to be Kaede, Copper, Noodles, Slate, Shiru, Hoppy, and Bessy. “I think that finding water would be imperative. This might be hard in the winter. As Copper and Shiru may remember, water sources freeze when it’s cold. First, however, waking the flock may be a good idea. (@H-B-O also who made Sparkle?)

“Hmm those two terms could be used to describe you more than they could me” Bessy retorted, she shouldn’t have, and she knew it but gosh it was so tempting. The retort just beckoned her, so she gave in and replied to the lead hen, not smart. Not smart at all.
